Drink The Koolade and Catch Robin in the Rye
Hey folks;
Hope you had a great weekend. I sure did... holiday parties, cleaning, more parties, more cleaning. You know you're getting old when you start to enjoy the clean up as much as the party. Yeesh!
I also had a great weekend because I got to spend some time looking through some new artwork loaded onto the site. One of my favorite newcomers is the 23-year-old artist who goes by the name Koolade.
Koolade, aka Jonathan Carroll, has a wonderful and vibrant style that mixes childish drawing styles with adult imagery. Throw in a helping of psychedelia, a creative color palate and some humor and you've got the work of Koolade. Check out some of my favorite pieces that are on the site:

Sick, sick work. You can see more of Koolade's stuff on his blog as well. And remember, if you ever want your artwork featured on here, go to my page and send me a message.
And look at this nifty cartoon take on "Catcher in the Rye," called "Robin in the Rye" (Robin, because, well, it stars Batman's sidekick... )
The cartoon is by the fabulous artist/cartoonist Andrew Lorenzi. via [Ham Fisted Theatrics]
Thanks everyone! Until next time...

So, we're a bit premature, but TOMORROW, December 6th, marks the one year anniversary of Heywire Guild & Gallery. It's been a great year with lots of great artwork. Keep it up, guys and gals.
Speaking of great artwork, check out Robin Ha's beautiful, beautiful illustrations:

Great colors and line work, Robin!
And remember, if you'd like your artwork to be featured here, head to my page and send me a message.
Until next time, folks!

Hey everyone, it's your humble site moderator/blogger Lukas K, back in action. Sorry for the short hiatus, folks! I've been here all along, but had to silently observe for a bit. I'm back in full effect, though, and just in time!
Heywire continues to grow at a rapid and particularly awesome pace, with new, exciting works of art being added every day. One of the artists who's been percolating on here since we last spoke is Germany's own Salena B. Salena is a 27-year-old painter and illustrator who specializes in portraits of musicians. Brilliant, beautiful portraits of musicians.
Check out some of her work:
"Ladies Can Be Pimps Too"

"Orange Moon Erykah"

"Bjork"

"Nikeata"

"The Cool Kids"
Everyone, head over to Salena's page and drop a comment!
And as always, if you want your artwork to be featured here, go to my page and send me a message.
And stay tuned to this page as there will be some changes to the site in 2009 and this is the best place to find out about all that stuff first.
Now, there's been lots of talk of the economic downturn. Politicians and reporters aren't the only ones to comment on that stuff... artists, like Brooklyn-based artist Elbow Toe, are making statements as well.
Here's his piece, "Everyman," thanks to SuperTouchArt:

Until next time!

You guys impress me every day. There's some much awesome, outside-the-box artwork on this site. Case in point, 24-year-old illustrator/photographer babstyle. Dude combines awesome compositions with gorgeous drawings, creating something wholly unique. Check out some of his work:

Dude, incredible!
If any of you want your work featured on here, hit me up on my page.
Weburbanist, one of my favorite sites, has a great post on 70 Amazing Houses. These houses are serious feats of design and, in many cases, are pretty whacky. Check some of these out:

Siiiick! Check out the whole post to see the rest of the 70.
Till tomorrow...

We haven't featured a musician on here in a while, so I thought today I'd share with you guys the music of joweeO, the saxophonist. JoweeO's piece, "4 My People" is a jazzy, infectious groove that joweeO wrote for the victims of the 2005 Tsunami. The song is sensual and groove heavy, with a dope scat line and killer sax playing that seems to purvey the vibe that, to all the people suffering out there, everything will be okay. Great work joweeO!
If you want your work featured on the Heywire blog, hit me up via my page.
This week is New York Fashion Week, so I thought a fashion-inspired post might be appropriate. So check out these sneakers!!

Okay, so sneakers aren't really what most people have in mind when they're talking high fashion... but these Dave's Quality Meat-exclusive Nike Dunks are killer, high fashion or not. Check out more pictures at High Snobiety.
Until tomorrow folks!
