Hey everybody;

I used to paint as a kid. I'm sure you did too. Back in the day, our teachers would sit us down with a brush and a paint kit and some paper and say, go to town. That was the beginning and ending of painting for most of us... we were either no good, were too distracted or, in my case, were afraid of getting our hands dirty. The fact that I don't paint anymore makes me respect everyone who DOES paint. Especially those painters who still quite clearly get their hands dirty.

One such painter is today's Heywire artist of the day, 19-year-old Axel Earth. Axel's work is a brilliant blend of primitive sloppiness, neatly rendered calligraphy and outside the line illustration. Here are some of my favorite pieces by Axel:

Great work, Axel! If you want your work to be featured on the blog, just hit me up via my page.One of my favorite art sites, Web Urbanist, is running a fascinating multiple-part series on the British art icon Banksy. Today, they've published part five (of eight), which features "Interviews, Films and Videos" of/by the artist. One of the more fascinating pieces Web Urbanist linked to is Banksy's subversive art piece at Disneyland. Check this out:

Pretty effed up but awesome at the same time. Thankfully it was caught on video. Check out the rest of the interviews and videos at Web Urbanist.Till next time...

Hey guys and gals;

Today's Heywire artist of the day is Moody. He's a graff artist who works in other mediums, always producing the same super ill tag. Here are some of my favorite works of his:

Sick work, Moody. The graffiti done in neon is especially killer. If you'd like your profile featured on here, message me via my page.

I found this image on fffound.com and though I don't fully understand it, it's both awesome and hilarious. Check this out:

So wait a minute... sagging your pants in Flint, Michigan can get you thrown in jail? What the...

Until next time...

Gray is a great color. But we just got word that there have been other colors out there, and that they've been totally annoyed that Gray got to shine on all of the Heywire profile and artwork pages.

Well, we're happy to report that the other colors have struck back. You can now modify the color scheme for your profile and artwork pages! You'll notice a brand new Theme section on the New Artwork, Edit Artwork  and Edit Profile pages...

Gray's stranglehold on Heywire has ended! Long live the other colors!

Hey folks;

It's been a while since I featured any music on here. Which is a shame, since there are some incredibly talented musicians on the site. One of the is today's artist of the day... Mr. Jeff Akins.

There's actually only one track on his Heywire page (though many more on his Myspace), the track that IS there is a doozy. It's this incredible uptempo summer rap joint called Boy Meets Girl... and I'm already asking Jeff for the mp3, because this track is KILLER. Can't wait to hear more.

If you'd like your profile featured on the blog, please hit me up via my page.

Swiss Miss posted this awesomely designed product today... it's called Subliminal Dinnerware and it's both hilarious and cool as hell. Check it out:

Sick. I need to cop this. Need to get a kitchen first, though.

Until next time...

Hey everyone;

I'm pissed. I missed Comicon again. I used to go every year but I haven't been able to make it out to San Diego the last few years. Outside of the cool movies and comic book stuff, I love hitting up the con because of all the great designers and artists who hit up the convention. Some of the amateurs trolling around the convention floor have had some of the coolest art I've ever seen.

Since I missed the Con, I thought I'd feature an artist who reminded me of the stuff I'd normally see there. His name is Jeff Wong and his profile features amazing illustrations AND mixed media sculptures. Here are some of my favorites of his:

Great stuff, Jeff! Remember, if you want to be featured on the blog, hit me up on my page.

Are you a T Shirt fiend like I am? Then you'll dig T Feeds. It's a site that aggregates all the new T-Shirts that are on the net. It's great both for those with discriminating tastes and absolutely huge wallets.

Okay folks, I'm out... I think I'll hit up the comic store to fend off my Comicon-related depression.

Hey everyone;

Sometimes when I jump on the subway, I'll be in my own world; most of us are like that. We get on a bus, subway, whatever and we think of our own thing. We're busy people... you can't blame us. But sometimes I'll stop being inside my own head, thinking about that next meeting or whatever, and start observing people. And, if I've got a pad of paper and a pen around and no one's looking, sometimes I'll draw little doodles of them too.

But I'm nowhere as good at doodling as today's featured artist, Xian Lee. The 19-year-old artist from Singapore does illustrations, fashion drawings and even designs clothes, but my favorite stuff of hers on her page are her doodles.

Great stuff, Xian! Everything on her page is pretty dope, so drop by check out her stuff. If you want your work featured on the blog, hit me up on my page.

Also, another congrats to Sylvian Morjane for having the 2500th piece of art on the site. Mr. Morjane has been sent his prize, the extra special Heywire mixtape.

I love vintage futuristic design, which is why I'm really feeling this 1975 IBM Slide Presentation that hit the web recently.

Check out some stills from this hilarious/awesome vintage slide presentation:

Ah, the good ol' days, when a computer was so big it needed its own room. Bwahaha!

Till next time folks;
